Preparing for the Interview
When it comes time for the interview the most important thing you should do is stay calm. Feeling nervous is completely normal, but if you have taken the time to prepare for the interview, you will be able to present yourself to the interviewer with ease.
Bring two copies of your resume to the interview. This is necessary even if you have already dropped your resume off with the company or e-mailed it to them because it shows that you are prepared.
With so many job applicants, it is not uncommon for the interviewer to lose or misplace a resume. By bringing your resume to the interview, it ensures that the interviewer has your skill information and contact information in hand. You may be interviewed by more than one person and having an extra can make their job easier and score you some brownie points.
Research the company before the interview. Understanding what the company does and what its values are will impress the interviewer and help you decide before the interview if you think the job is something of interest to you. You may research the company by using the company’s website or by calling the business and asking questions.
A few things to keep in mind when you go to your interview are:
· Smile
· Make eye contact
· Give a firm handshake when you are greeted
· Sit up straight
· Do not cross your legs unless it is at the ankles
· Be honest
· Speak clearly
· Answer questions completely and in a timely manner
Practice for the interview. Practice makes perfect, so if you are not used to sitting up straight practice it at your next meal. If your handshake is weak and flimsy then practice giving a firm one with a friend or a parent.

Best Employment Interview Tips
You can practice giving your response to each question by having a friend give you a mock interview where they ask you the questions and you answer as you would in the actual interview. It may help if you write down your responses to gather your thoughts or review your resume before doing a mock interview.
Have questions prepared to ask the interviewer. At the end of your interview the interviewer should ask if you have any questions for them. Never say that you do not have any questions. Use this as an opportunity to find out more about the company or the position you are applying for. This shows that you are eager to learn more about the company.
Some Guideline Questions you can ask the person interviewing you are:
- What is your favorite part about working for _________ (company’s name)?
- Is there room for advancement (in the position you are applying for)?
- Can I expect a lot of travel with this position?
- How did you (meaning the interviewer) get involved with this company?
- What does it take to be successful in this position?
Asking questions about something you read on the company’s website is another way to show that you have done your research and impress the interviewer with your interest in the company.
By preparing ahead of time, you will go into the interview feeling confident and leave the interview as either a new employee or on your way to finding your future job.
Do not get discouraged if the first few interviews do not land you a job. If you continue to be persistent and do not give up you will find one.
