Register Now for Computer Courses at Opelika High School that Will Help Your Business
 For the first time ever, the Auburn University Outreach Program Office is offering computer courses at Opelika High School.

9th Annual Opelika Chamber of Commerce Golf Tournament
The Opelika Chamber of Commerce will host its 9th Annual Member Golf Tournament at Saugahatchee Country Club sponsored by Wal-Mart Distribution Center on May 6. More than 30 teams are expected to compete in the noon shotgun event.

Opelika Chamber of Commerce hosts International Protocol Seminar led by Professional Consultant Shanna Carter
OPELIKA, AL – (September 19, 2007) – The Opelika Chamber of Commerce will be hosting an International Protocol Seminar on Friday, September 28, 2007 from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. The seminar, presented by Shanna Carter, founder and president of Premiere Image consultants based in Auburn, AL, will be held at the Southern Union State Community College Health Science Building, 1701 Lafayette Parkway in Opelika. It is open to chamber members and non-chamber members.
Character Council Post Needs Assessment Survey
OPELIKA , AL - (August 8, 2007) - The Opelika Character Council was developed out of the Race Relations/Cultural Diversity Task Force of Envision Opelika under the leadership of Tom Tippett. Resolutions have been passed in support of the Council efforts by the Mayor and the Opelika City Council, the Opelika Chamber of Commerce Board and the Opelika Board of Education.

OPELIKA , AL – July, 12, 2007—The Opelika Chamber of Commerce will host a POWER MINGLE, networking seminar, at 7:15 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. located at the Health Resource Center. There will be no charge for members and a $10 non-member fee.

Opelika Chamber Board Endorses Proposed Tax Increase to Benefit Opelika City Schools
The Opelika Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors voted unanimously at its meeting Wednesday, March 21, 2007 to endorse a proposal by the Opelika City Schools to increase the local millage rate by 7 City Mils.

Opelika Chamber of Commerce Board Endorses Tax Breaks for Health Care Insurance
The Opelika Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors voted unanimously at its meeting Wednesday, March 21, 2007 to endorse Governor Bob Riley’s proposed tax breaks for small businesses offering health care insurance plans for their employees. According to Riley’s plan, employers would be allowed to deduct twice the amount they pay for health insurance premiums from their state taxes, while their employees would be allowed to deduct twice the amount they contribute toward the insurance as well.

Opelika Chamber of Commerce Chairman Jeff Hilyer and the Chamber’s Nominating Committee will present nominations for new three-year Directors in March 30, 2007. The committee will select new directors as stated in the Opelika Chamber of Commerce By-laws.

Second Annual Lee County Job Fair
Opelika, AL- (July 18, 2006)-The Opelika Chamber of Commerce in partnership with Qantum Communications, Lowe's, Waffle House and ESG will be sponsoring the Second Annual Lee County Job Fair on Tuesday, July 25, 2006 from 3 until 7 p.m., CST. Next Edition of Opelika Lifestyle magazine set for January 2007 distribution
OPELIKA, Ala. - The Opelika Chamber of Commerce is gearing up for the production of the next edition of Opelika Lifestyle magazine. The magazine, which includes the Chamber's membership directory and doubles as a Newcomer and Opelika information guide, is scheduled for publication every 18 months. The next edition will be distributed in January 2007.
