Opelika Chamber of Commerce hosts Business over Breakfast with Chancellor Bradley Byrne

Opelika, AL - (September 17, 2007) - The Opelika Chamber of Commerce will present Business over Breakfast with guest speaker Chancellor Bradley Byrne, on Tuesday, November 6, 2007. The breakfast is sponsored by Computer Paramedics, LLC. The member-only breakfast will take place at Saugahatchee Country Club at 7:30 a.m.

Byrne was appointed by the Alabama State Board of Education to serve as the Chancellor of Alabama’s two-year college system in May of 2007. Byrne’s responsibilities include serving as executive director of a system that consists of community and technical colleges and overseeing a budget of nearly $700 million.

Byrne, an Alabama native, received his undergraduate degree from Duke University, where he graduated magna cum laude. He earned his law degree from the University of Alabama. He has an impressive resume with stints on both the Alabama Board of Education and the Alabama State Senate. Education is a passion of Byrne’s, and he has been a member of various boards and committees to improve the state of education in Alabama.

Byrne is married to the former Rebecca Dukes, and the couple has four children: Patrick, Kathleen, Laura, and Colin. The Byrne family lives in Fairhope, not too far from Byrne’s birthplace of Mobile.

Business over Breakfast promotes community business and informs Opelika Chamber members of local and state activities. Reservations are preferred due to limited seating. The cost of the event is $17 per member in advance and $18 upon arrival if seating is available.
