Opelika Chamber of Commerce hosts Business over Breakfast with NBA Referee Phil Robinson
Opelika, AL- (March 28, 2006) - The Opelika Chamber of Commerce's 2006 Business over Breakfast series will continue May 9, 2006 with guest speaker, NBA Referee Phil Robinson . The breakfast is sponsored by Qantum Communications. The member-only breakfast will take place at Saugahatchee Country Club at 7:30 am.
Robinson, an Opelika resident, currently works as a National Basketball Association Referee - a career that began in 1999. Prior to his work with the NBA, he served as a teacher and coach (football and baseball) at Hillcrest High School in Tuscaloosa and moved to Opelika to take on the position of Director of Student Recruitment and Public Relations at Southern Union State Community College.
His honors include serving as a referee for the NCAA Basketball Tournament in 1997 and 1998; the SEC Basketball Tournament in 1997 and 1998; and the NIT basketball Tournament from 1994 to 1998. In 1986, 1987, and 1990, he was named West Alabama Baseball Coach of the Year and he coached the 1984 3A Alabama State Champions. From 1992 to 1998, he was a member of the Lee County Counselors Association, the National Education Association and the Alabama Counselors Association.
Robinson holds a Bachelor of Science, Health, Physical Education and Recreation from Livingston University (1984) and went on to earn a Master of Science in Education Administration from Troy State University in 1993.

Business Over Breakfast promotes community business and informs Opelika Chamber members of local and state activities. Reservations are preferred due to limited seating. The cost of the event is $16 per member in advance and $17 upon arrival if seating is available.
