Opelika Chamber of Commerce hosts Business over Breakfast with
Auburn University Offensive Coordinator/Quarterback Coach Al Borges
Opelika, AL- (March 1, 2007) - The Opelika Chamber of Commerce will kick off its 2007 Business over Breakfast series with guest speaker, Al Borges, Auburn University Offensive Coordinator/Quarterback Coach on March 22, 2007. The breakfast is sponsored by Amedisys Home Health Services. The member-only breakfast will take place at Saugahatchee Country Club at 7:30 am.
In 2004, Borges joined the Auburn Tiger’s football team as Offensive Coordinator/Quarterback Coach. He helped lead the Tigers to the 2005 Sugar Bowl, 2006 Capital One Bowl and the 2007 AT&T Cotton Bowl.
Borges, named as rivals.com Offensive Coordinate of the year in 2005, has had continued success at the high school, and collegiate levels. In 2004 and 2005 Coach Borges helped Auburn finish first in the SEC in scoring offense. During this time, he coached quarterback Jason Campbell, a first round pick for the 2005 NFL draft. While at UCLA, Borges coached Cade McNown, an All American and Heisman Trophy finalist. It was during this time he was named Offensive Coordinator of the Year by Football Coach Quarterly.
A native of Salinas, California, Borges began his career as Assistant Coach at Salinas High School. He is married to the former Nikki Federico and they one son, Cole.
Business over Breakfast promotes community business and informs Opelika Chamber members of local and state activities. Reservations are preferred due to limited seating. The cost of the event is $17 per member in advance and $18 upon arrival if seating is available.
