- The Alabama Real Estate Research and Education Center (AREREC) is a comprehensive research and education facility designed to support Alabama's real estate community and economic development efforts throughout the state.
Housed in the Culverhouse College of Commerce and Business Administration at The University of Alabama, AREREC serves as a clearinghouse for real estate expertise and a depository for local, state, and national data that can be used in the development of feasibility studies, market area analyses, industrial location, economic impact studies, and site selection proposals. The Center regularly conducts policy-oriented research and assists local governments, chambers of commerce, and other entities involved in community planning and development projects.
AREREC calculates the Alabama Housing Affordability Index for the state, its 11 Metropolitan Areas, and five selected counties, as well as a monthly housing statistics report.
